Saturday, May 4th –  2-3 scheduled rides at Groom Creek. TBD

Saturday, May 18th – Annual Verde River Ride/Lunch/Meeting at Little Thumb Butte Bed & Breakfast.  This is always a great time!  Ride out 9:00am and is about 3 hours.  We cross the river at least 12 times so if your horse does not like water or if you don’t know if your horse can do water this is NOT the time to practice.  Generally, it’s always a big ride and we don’t want to hold up the rest of the group.  Some rocky parts and a hill in the beginning and end.  Delicious lunch served after the ride outside on the patio and a short meeting will be held.    Special Guest – Erin Duncan-Davidson from Native Air will talk about their Patient Advocate program for Air Evacuations.

Wednesday, June 19th – Salida Gulch.  This is a lovely ride in the trees and is rated 2.5.  Parking is limited to 8 trailers so double up.  The ride is about 1.5 hours and there is a small water crossing.  More details to follow…

Saturday, June 29th – Eagles Nest, Williams.  This will be a ride set in the Kaibab National Forest near Williams Rated 2.5.  The weather should be great!  Plan to be in the saddle by 11:00 am for a 2.5 hour ride.  It is a 7 mile loop.  One small part of the trail is narrow with some low branches while navigating over some rocks (not big rocks).  There is also a small spot where the horses will switch back down a smooth rock area.  All very doable. We will have lunch as a group back at the trailers after the ride.  Everyone should bring a chair or blanket and we can make it a group picnic.  Dry camping is optional if you want to take advantage of the cool nights in Williams.

Directions: You can put Hoctor Road into your GPS.  Hoctor is a right hand turn off of 64 heading towards the Grand Canyon.   Drive to the end of Hoctor and it meets up with Pine Street.  Take left onto Pine.  You will then see a right hand turn over a cattle guard and a Kaibab National Park sign.  Turn right onto Forest Road 84.  Drive until you see a nice Texas gate on the right (a gate with two posts on the sides and top), don’t go through the gate, but take the road that veers to the right after that gate.  It will then open up to a large field.  Everyone can park in the field.  Travel time is over an hour depending on where you are coming from.
